Weekly Character Traits / Memory Verses
Below are the six character traits that our coaches teach and exemplify to their athletes over the course of each season in our recreational sports programming. Our coaches acknowledge, and take serious, the important role that they play in the lives of your children. Each week, across all of our sports programming, our coaches work to integrate these character traits into their practices and games.
Week 1 – Kindness: The quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Week 2 – Honesty: To speak truth and act fairly, rather than lie or cheat.
2 Timothy 2:5: “An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”
Week 3 – Respect: A feeling of admiring someone or something that is good, valuable or important.
Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Week 4 – Helpfulness: Making it easier to do a job or deal with a problem; willing to help other people.
Philippians 2:4: “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Week 5 – Responsibility: A duty or task that you are expected or required to do.
Galatians 6:5: “For each one should carry their own load.”
Week 6 – Teamwork: Cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause.
Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
