Paladin Football Club Kicks Off Its First Tackle Football Season
A new chapter is underway for Paladin Football Club.
This fall, Paladin is taking the field for its first season of tackle football, expanding beyond flag football with teams competing in the 11U and middle school divisions.
After months of preparation, our athletes now have the opportunity to put their hard work into action and represent Paladin in a new arena. But the journey to opening day began long before the first kickoff.
“This first tackle football season represents an exciting new chapter for Paladin Football Club,” said Andrew Johnson, Paladin Football Club Director. “We’re building more than competitive football teams. We’re creating an environment where young athletes can grow in their skills, faith, character and commitment to one another.”
Building the Foundation
Preparation began in June with the Paladin Summer Football Program. Throughout the summer, athletes participated in strength and performance training alongside position-specific instruction and drills.
The goal was not simply to prepare players for competition. Coaches worked to help each athlete become stronger, faster, more confident and more fundamentally sound while building trust and chemistry throughout the teams.
One highlight of the preseason was Paladin’s Helmets & Heels event, which invited players to bring their moms onto the field for a Paladin football practice.
For one morning, the athletes became the coaches, teaching their moms the skills and drills associated with their positions. The event concluded with a players-versus-moms touch football scrimmage that brought plenty of competition, laughter and memorable moments for Paladin families.
Faith Beyond the Field
As with every Paladin program, this first tackle football season is about more than wins and losses.
Paladin has partnered with Fellowship of Christian Athletes to host an FCA Huddle on Monday evenings. These gatherings give players space to grow in their faith, strengthen relationships with their teammates and talk about leadership, character and what it means to represent something bigger than themselves.
The teams will also serve together at Feed My Starving Children in October. Community service is an important part of the culture Paladin Football Club is building. We want our athletes to understand that being a great teammate means competing for one another and looking for opportunities to serve others.
A New Chapter for Paladin Football
Adding tackle football creates another opportunity for Paladin to develop young athletes through faith, leadership, service, teamwork and healthy competition.
We are excited about what is taking shape during this inaugural season and grateful for the players, families, coaches and supporters helping make it possible.
Paladin Football Club’s first tackle football season is off and running and we’re just getting started.
